[SAT APR 15 2017; B15; ’Avoimet puutarhat -päivä kutsuu mukaan’]

The time for registration has begun.

Last year the gardens were visited over 66 000 times.

This year, the popular nationwide Open Gardens Day is held on the first Sunday of July, 2.7. at 12-18.

Once again people will get to visit the best Finnish home gardens and business attractions. The event has grown in popularity every year, and last year over 500 garden attractions registered.

The time for registering gardens for the event has begun.

Gardens seen in previous years as well as new points of interest are encouraged to be registered. It’s going to be yet another rewarding and interesting day for visitors, as every garden is teeming with living tips on gardening, plants and their use in the gardens. Every garden is an expression of their creators and their hobbies.

Cottage and high-rise yards, as well as detached house yards can all be registered. The best things about the event are always the genuine enthusiasm of the gardeners and the will to share experiences with other green thumbs.

The Open Gardens Day in August of last year had a record amount of visitors, with over 66 000 visits altogether.

The participating gardeners were very happy with the event, and many of them have already decided to register for this year as well. This year the gardens will flourish in the midsummer atmosphere.

The tagline for the event is Let’s tend to our gardens and our happiness.

Special themes include the watering of garden flowers, sufficient fertilization for plant nourishment, and working toward happiness through gardening.

The Open Gardens Day event is organized by Puutarhaliitto ry together with Svenska Trädgårdsförbundet rf and the magazine Kotipuutarha. The garden foundation of Nikolai and Ludmila Borisoff is also supporting the event, with partners Oy Fiskars Ab, Kekkilä Oy and the Finnish Association for Mental Health.
