The Kylänomadi App Encourages Exploration
[TUE JUN 6 2017; B3; ’Kylänomadi-mobiilisovellus kutsuu kulkemaan’]
Wandering the countryside has become a whole different experience with the new mobile app. The Kylänomadi (Village Nomad) service specializes in Finnish village scenic routes. The first route available in the service opens on June 10 in Eastern Janakkala.
The electronic map is filled with points of interest, information, and available services. On cycling and walking routes, the app imparts information about history, people, and the scenery. The service provides text, audio, and video on various locations.
The purpose of the mobile routes is to accentuate the diversity and the values of the countryside. And also to awaken appreciation of culture history and scenery.
The mobile routes have been developed in the Rural Women’s Advisory Organisation’s development project. The routes and other content have been designed together with the people and organizations of the villages. The Maisematarinoita (Scenery Stories) project operates in Kanta-Häme and Uusimaa. The project is administered by ProAgria and the Rural Women’s Advisory Organisation.
There are to be ten routes this year. The first route is available on June 10 in Eastern Janakkala, and the next one on June 14 in Mänttä-Vilppula.
The routes are listed in Citynomad’s Nomad app, downloadable for smart phones and tablets.
